SHINGOOSE
Shingoose stars in "Indian Time 3 - 500 Years of Feelings", a Television Variety Entertainment Special airing on APTN and BRAVO early 2003. Watch for Indian Time 3 on BRAVO at 7:30 p.m. March 31st, 2003. You can catch him on "Tipi Tales" doing the voice of "Wolf" on APTN's new children's show on Sunday 10:30 a.m. As well, Shingoose has just been added to the Winnipeg Folk Festival performers list for 2003.
Mr. Jonnie's career spams thirty six years years of the entertainment industry. He began as a musician, singer, and songwriter in 1967, and later developed into a producer, promoter, and entrepreneur. His skills and strengths come from a wealth of experience in the cultural, communications and entertainment industries.
Mr. Jonnie is President of Native Multimedia Production, Inc., whose award winning TV entertainment specials, Native language series, and current affairs shows have played to millions over the CTV, APTN, BRAVO, and Global television network since 1984.
Shingoose also finds the time to contribute to his community through volunteer work, and was instrumental in founding the "Best Music of Aboriginal Canada" category for the Juno Awards, Canada's highest achievement for musical excellence in the recording arts and sciences. He sits on numerous music related Boards, and works with the committee to establish the National Aboriginal Music Industry Association. He also sits on the National Advisory Board for FACTOR.
Still in demand as a performer, speaker, facilitator, and producer, Shingoose is very much a man for these times. The message in his music and life's work has always remained constant. It's a message that speaks to a proud heritage, survival against all odds, and to a celebration of life and music. His music is a blend of the 60's and 70's rock, folk, and R&B influences he experienced growing up on the Midwest US-Canada border. His lyrics are filled with humorous insights on cultural differences and diversity (Natural Tan). Never one to back down from social issues, Shingoose calls it as he sees it (Treaty Rights). He doesn't try to evoke guilt: he tries for logic and understanding.
