Retro Rhyme Review

The RETRO RHYTHM REVIEW is exactly that, a ten member, intensive re-examination and energetic reinterpretation of the best known dance music of decades gone by. Comprised of primarily musicians from the University of Manitoba’s Jazz Program, the group is fast becoming renown for its dynamic and show stopping performance of, as the groups motto states, “music of the 60’s and 70’s played by kids from the 80’s.” Brain child of bassist Daniel Jordan (a.k.a. Jonny Moonbeam) the group has played many high profile gigs since it’s inception more notably New Years Eve at the Forks, The Casinos of Winnipeg Move and Groove series, Kick FM’s “Definitely Not the Juno’s” awards show and Kenora’s Harbourfest. The band moonlights as the backing group for their’s, and Winnipeg’s favourite uncle, Rocki Rolletti (aka Peter Jordan). With repertoire extending from Stevie Wonder to the Temptations, The Supremes to Sly Stone, this groups breathes new life into old classics. A grooving rhythm section featuring the explosive drumming of young Michael “Mungo Moon” Jordan and some seriously soulful organ, combined with the tightest horn section this side of Tower of Power and the sweet soul sister singing of the Satellites (Sol, Rocket and Jax), guarantee a body movin‘ musical spectacle like no other.
