Michael Blair Band Fronted by Blair Hordeski, The Blair Hordeski Sandwich is a rock quartet based in Portage la Prairie, MB. January of 1999 saw the release of the band’s debut self-titled album, which boasted the talents of guitarist Murray Pulver (Crash Test Dummies) and drummer Daniel Roy (Wyrd Sisters). The album received airplay across Canada on campus and community radio stations as well as on CBC Radio (whose “Definitely Not the Opera” program likened Blair to a young Burton Cummings). October of 1999 saw The Sandwich nominated for two Prairie Music Awards. In support of the album, The Sandwich toured Western Canada, making promotional appearances on both radio and television. January of 2002 marked the release of the band’s six song EP “Fresh Daily Specials”. Although the album has a “tougher” edge to it (the acoustic guitar doesn’t make an appearance), the hooks and melodies that identify The Sandwich remain a constant. The Pulver produced project has been lauded as one of the best sounding works to come out of the province. The band will soon be releasing a live album that was recorded at Pocket’s Bar and Grill in Winnipeg, MB. “In performance, The Sandwich generates the kind of energy that is only found in a band with no weak links, and the guys translate the enjoyment they obviously feel in playing together into an irresistible atmosphere.” “What stands out about this band, besides their non-stop energy and contagious tunes is their incredible ability to read an audience and get them involved in a performance.”
